The 701PH operates by sensing the optical scatter from smoke particles generated in a fire, and a rapid rate of rising temperature increases the smoke detection sensitivity.
The 700 range of low-cost conventional detectors are microprocessor-based, offering features designed to extend the shelf-life of the detector and reduce installed costs to customers.
The 700 series are used in conjunction with conventional 2-wire detection systems, where detectors will normally be connected in zones. Each detector samples the ambient air every 5 seconds. If a fire condition is detected, a signalling current is drawn.
These intelligent, conventional detectors come with built-in drift compensation (P and PH variants only). Once the drift compensation limit has been reached, i.e. the detector has become too dirty to operate at the same sensitivity, the detector will automatically adjust the sensitivity to allow it to continue operating. This feature will extend the life expectancy of the detector.
The built-in microprocessor in each 700 series detector provides significantly improved detection algorithms. These algorithms are equivalent to non-Fast logic in our Gen6 detectors and offer the same detection performance and false alarm rejection.
