The LD-WL8-EXP is a Wireless Expander Module which is part of the Kentec Wireless Lockdown system. It is used to increase the radio coverage of a Lockdown Wireless Translator Module on large sites or difficult buildings. Expanders are critical in the provision of the unique wireless MESH technology offered by the Kentec Wireless Lockdown system. Multiple Expanders can be connected to a single Translator Module creating multiple radio communication paths back to the Translator thus ensuring a robust and reliable wireless lockdown system.

Mesh technology also ensures that the wireless lockdown system continues to operate at its optimum communication levels by selecting the strongest radio signal path through the mesh at all times. Each Expander module will be allocated an address on the wireless translator between 21 and 126. Expander Modules must be powered from a separate 24 VDC supply with battery back-up such as the Kentec STX2401-C Boxed power supply. Wireless Expander Modules will communicate with any of the wireless field devices provided as part of the wireless lockdown system.

Utilising a highly stable bi-directional radio communication protocol the Expander transmits information from the intelligent field devices to the Translator Module. Expander Modules are fitted with two internal antennae to reduce signal fading and enhance the radio communication.

The LD-WL8-OV is monitored for communication, tamper and low battery voltage fault states and will activate the failsafe output module (LD-WL8- OUT-FS) on the wireless system when a fault exists. System parameters associated with the Expander Module are configurable through the associated Translator Module.

Provided in a compact, aesthetically pleasing polycarbonate housing the Expander can be discreetly surface mounted.

Where additional space is required for installation of cables etc. back-box KM-BBOX-01 is available.

The system provides manual activation and broadcast of voice messages for Lockdown activation, covert lockdown activation, and All Clear events. 

The Wireless Lockdown Notification System is based on the established K-Mesh Wireless Fire Detection product range with minor modifications in functionality to meet the requirements for Lockdown notification. This provides users confidence in the performance and reliability of the system.
