Vesda Xtralis PIP-024 25mm Large Check Valve (Blow Out Valve)

PIP-024 from the Vesda Xtralis range of products is a 25mm large check valve (blow out valve).

For optimal performance, an Aspirating Smoke Detection (ASD) system requires a well-designed, high-quality pipework network. In areas where there is a high background level of dust, as part of maintenance, pipes are often purged with compressed air. This process is either conducted manually or with an Auto-Purge system. In both cases, check valve (or blow out valve) is installed at the far end of the pipe run. This valve serves two purposes: (1) to ensure the pipe is not over pressurised. (2) to allow any debris in the pipe to be expelled.

These valves play a crucial role in ensuring the system’s efficiency and reliability. They feature union ends that allow for easy removal, enabling quick refurbishment, repair or replacement without disrupting the overall pipework.

The newton strength of the spring of the large check valves have been tested for pressure response using a 3m pipe with 3mm holes. Under 0.5 bar of pressure, the spring begins to move slightly, allowing small amounts of air to escape. As the pressure increases to between 2 and 3 bar, the spring fully opens, enabling the release of any built-up contamination.

The standard valves (PIP-024) are supplied in red to identify its service as fire. They are also available in grey (PIP-024-G) to accommodate for aesthetic reasons. They are produced from Acrylonitrile Butadiene Styrene (ABS) under a stringent quality control system approved to BS EN ISO 9001, and tested and certified to EN 54-20 and EN 61386-1.

Notes:

During installation, it is important that the valve is fitted so the directional arrow points away from the pipe network.
The valve should always be located at the end of the pipe.
