Disabled refuge systems comply with BS 5839 Pt 9 and are monitored, battery backed systems which are designed for use during the evacuation of a building in an emergency. Controllers are designed to connect to multiple outstations around the building, and are used by building managers, fire officers or other responsible personnel.
In the event of a fire using disabled refuge, controllers will allow the operator to communicate with any users of outstations on the system including disabled refuge units, fire telephones and disabled toilet alarms. This level of communication is designed to provide effective communication in areas to assist rescue teams and in determining where assistance is required.
