Elmdene’s VAD (Visual Alarm Device) for Fire systems is an LPC approved EN54-23 compliant product that is capable of C-3-15 performance (ceiling mounted beacon).

With its universal mounting plate it can accommodate any detector base, providing a coverage area of 3m height and 15m diameter.

This coverage matches the allowable coverage of smoke detectors enabling customers a simple method of specifying and installing the devices.

The new standard presents a challenge to specifiers and installers in the early days as the question arises of how many strobes they will need to fit to comply with the minimum light coverage requirements.

The positioning of smoke detectors is well established as it has been standard for many years; matching the beacon coverage to allowable smoke detector position and coverage should enable simple choices and costings.

Each VAD is supplied with a fixing plate and a blanking plate. An approved detector and standard base should be attached to the fixing plate or, if not required, the blanking plate must be inserted.
