Disabled refuge outstations are designed to be installed into disabled refuge areas in buildings. Outstations are designed to provide a two-way hands-free communication between the occupier of a disabled refuge area and the person (or persons) operating the control panel. These outstations are used for when the evacuation of a building is required such as the event of a fire.

Anyone needing assistance for evacuation will wait for help in refuge areas which are mainly for the physically impaired, wheelchair users, pregnant ladies, or anyone that requires assistance in exiting a building or area to safety.
