The New LFX Fire Extinguisher Range, Designed To Meet The Latest Safety Standards

As our world changes, so do our safety needs, especially regarding fire safety. Lithium-ion battery fires have significantly increased, and the CheckFire team has developed a crucial range of extinguishers to address this issue.

Despite their widespread use, lithium-ion batteries pose unique fire hazards. Fires caused by these batteries can be particularly difficult to extinguish due to the risk of thermal runaway, where the battery generates heat faster than it can be dissipated, causing a rapid chain reaction that can reignite even after initial extinguishment. Without the right fire extinguisher, these fires can spread quickly, producing toxic gases and high-intensity flames. The new LFX range is specifically designed to tackle such risks, providing the right tools to address this growing threat and ensure safety in environments where lithium-ion batteries are prevalent.

Certified Safety

Although there isn’t a BS EN3 certificate for portable extinguishers against lithium-ion battery fires, KIWA and the Royal Netherlands Standardization Institute have created guidelines to test extinguishers for such fires up to 600 Wh. We’re proud to announce that the CommanderEDGE LFX 6-litre and 9-litre extinguishers are NTA 8133 approved, with the 6-litre model being the first in Europe to earn this certification.

Choosing the Right Extinguisher

The Watt-hour (Wh) rating of a battery determines the appropriate LFX fire extinguisher. As Wh ratings rise, so do fire risks and the necessary extinguisher size.

CommanderEDGE 3-litre LFX Fire Extinguisher (FX-LI-003-MCF)

Ideal for devices up to 300Wh, like smartphones and laptops, this extinguisher tackles lithium-ion battery fires efficiently. It uses a water-based foam that cools batteries and prevents secondary fires.

CommanderEDGE 6-litre LFX Fire Extinguisher (FX-LI-006-MCF)

Suitable for devices up to 600Wh, such as supermarket scanners and hoverboards, this fluorine-free extinguisher is part of The Green Range, ensuring high performance and reliability.

CommanderEDGE 9-litre LFX Fire Extinguisher (FX-LI-009-MCF)

Designed for devices up to 900Wh, like electric bikes and scooters, this model effectively combats battery fires and is ideal for manufacturers and rental services.
