Fireco Dorgard Acoustic Fire Door Retainer in Red - DG200-RED

Once installed, Dorgard works by listening out for a continuous sound of 65 decibels or higher. Once this sound has been identified, after approximately 14 seconds Dorgard will release the fire door and under the pressure of the overhead door closer the door will close, sealing the area and preventing the spread of smoke and fire.

As Dorgard is wire free it requires no wiring into the building’s main fire alarm system meaning that disruption during installation is minimal and fast.

When Dorgard is holding a fire door open, it “listens” for the continuous sound of a fire alarm. Dorgard needs to “hear” a fire alarm that exceeds 65 decibels for longer than 14 seconds. At a general noise level of 80 decibels Dorgard will release. This facility has been built into the unit as a safety feature. Should the noise level in your premises exceed 80 decibels it is unlikely that you would hear a 65 decibel alarm; therefore the Dorgard releases the fire door to close.

Installing:

Installing Dorgard takes only a few minutes. It is completely wire free and battery operated.
Firstly open the top compartment of Dorgard using a screwdriver and install the batteries. The 2 C sized batteries supplied should last for at least 12 months.
It is recommended that fire doors are closed at night; therefore Dorgard has an automatic night-time release facility. To enable this select the night time dip switches on the back of the unit. Also note the serial number in the Maintenance Record, supplied in the Fitting & Operating guide.
With the door closed, position the fitting template provided against the door on the side that shuts against the frame. Mark the holes for fixing through the fitting template.
Fix Dorgard to the fire door using the four screws supplied. The correct position is when, with the plunger fully retracted, the door can swing free and with the Dorgard plunger depressed, contact with the floor or floor plate holds the door open.
Twelve hours after install and every 7 days after this point, Dorgard will self-test. Should Dorgard detect an internal fault it will sound a warning tone and fail-to-safe, closing the door.
Next fix the floor plate in a position that is in line with Dorgard.
Before drilling holes or fastening screws, check the location of water pipes, electrical points and gas pipes.
Open the fire door to the desired position, stand sideways to the fire door and press down on the plunger to hold the fire door open. To release the door, kick the black knob.
Test your fire alarm to ensure that Dorgard releases the door. Finally, fix the fire door sticker.
